Program Details
The 2011 Santa Clara Computer & High Technology Law Journal Symposium takes place in the heart of Silicon Valley, at the Mountain View Computer History Museum. Over the years, CHTLJ Symposia have served as an important forum for discussion of cutting-edge legal issues. We are proud to bring together some of the nation's leading practitioners and academics to discuss and debate hot topics in patent law today. Our distinguished panelists will present various aspects of the changing patent landscape, including discussion of calculating reasonable remedies, reform, and the ethics of non-practicing entities.
Specifically, our first panelists will consider what, if anything, has changed after the Bilski decision, and what, if anything, should change in the years to come. The second panel will discuss patent damages and what should be considered in performing reasonable royalty calculations, especially in devices comprised of many patents. After lunch, our third panel will address strategies in the absence of reform. Our final panel considers the ethics of non- practicing entities -- whether they are seen as patent trolls, or protectors of pure invention.
These discussions will surely provide all attendees with a new perspective and better understanding of the future of the changing patent landscape. The Journal will provide a breakfast buffet, lunch, drinks, and a wine and cheese reception afterward for all registered attendees. Volume 27 is excited for your attendance and support.
